Teaching Flow and Format

Master Demonstrations

Two demonstrations and practice sessions each day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Starting from artistic philosophy, the master will show how to complete a work with a decisive, flowing approach.

Core Elements

Four Pillars: focus on bold composition, quick judgment, and subject simplification.

Technical elements: analyze color relationships, value, form, and edge handling in depth.

Learn up close and understand the master’s creative thinking

Move from observation to hands-on practice

Receive a study certificate personally signed by the instructor after completion

Participants may present personal works and receive targeted feedback from the master to clarify strengths and areas for improvement.

Daniel Smith Watercolors : Lunar Black, Cobalt Blue, Sepia, Hansa Yellow Deep, Burnt Sienna Light, Yellow Ochre, Pyrrol Red, Viridian, Lavender, Alvaro’s Caliente Grey, Alvaro’s Fresco Grey

Additional 6 Recommended Colors : Titanium White, Jaune Brilliant #1, Pyrrol Orange, Cobalt Teal Blue, Green Turquoise Light, Lunar Blue

Large round brush (MOP type)

Round brushes (natural animal hair is recommended for better water holding) : sizes #10, #6, #4, #2, #0, #00, #000, #5/00, #10/00

Flat wash brush (at least 2 inches)

300 gsm rough Baohong watercolor paper or Arches watercolor paper : approximately quarter-sheet (54*39) and eighth-sheet (39*27)

Other : sponge, masking tape, pencil (2B-6B), spray bottle, drawing board, and a good sense of humor

Q: How do I register for the course?

Registration is available through the Grandarts online platform and offline at HONG GUAN ART. Registration is confirmed after payment is completed and a confirmation Email is received. Same-day onsite registration, direct message registration, and phone registration are not accepted. Please present your registration Email or a valid ID at check-in so staff can verify your information.

Q: Can I join without watercolor experience?

The workshop is an advanced course and is recommended for participants with basic watercolor experience. Beginners may still register for the live demonstration lecture to observe the master’s process up close and gain inspiration.

Q: Will Chinese interpretation be provided?

Yes. Alvaro teaches in English, and professional interpretation will be provided onsite throughout the course.

Q: Are seats assigned?

Seating is open and selected according to the check-in order on the day.

Q: Can I request a refund if I cannot attend?

One seat transfer may be arranged. If you cannot attend for personal reasons, please contact the organizer in advance for assistance.

Q: Can I take photos or videos during the course?

Due to copyright and instructor authorization requirements, photography and video recording are not allowed during the course. Thank you for your understanding.

Q: Will a certificate be provided after the course?

Participants who complete the workshop will receive a study certificate personally signed by the master. This applies only to workshop participants, not demonstration lecture participants.

Q: Is catering provided?

Meals are not provided. Participants may dine out during the lunch break.

Seats are limited and available until sold out. After registration and payment are completed, your seat will be reserved.

If check-in requires queuing, please follow onsite signs and staff guidance.

To maintain course quality, cancellations and refunds are not accepted after registration. If you cannot attend, you may transfer your seat once. Please confirm that you can attend the scheduled course before purchasing.

The promotional pricing for this course series is available until 2026/07/31 and may close earlier before the course depending on seat availability. Early registration is recommended. Temporary onsite registration will not be accepted.
